Closing The Deal
Congratulations on buying or selling your home! The closing or exchange process can be an exciting yet daunting experience, so it’s important to understand what to expect during this final stages that are referred to as the exchange or closing of the sale.
We will work with you and the other party to set a mutually agreed upon date. Your needs and wants will be first priority so your move is stress-free and as convenient as possible.
On the closing date, the buyer will typically provide the remaining balance of the purchase price to the seller through their lawyer. The remainder of the down payment, pro-rated taxes, fees, etc. must be paid by cash or money order. This is to ensure that actual funds have been exchanged so the deal can complete.
There is usually a delay of several days before the keys are available. We recommend that you take this time to visit the property again with us to ensure it is in good condition. The seller will then provide the buyer with the keys through our office. We will deliver them to you and the sale will be complete.
Throughout the process, it’s important to work closely with your real estate agent, lawyer, and other professionals to ensure that everything is handled smoothly and in accordance with British Columbia’s real estate laws and regulations. Skipping even a small detail can result in delays that are inconvenient for all parties.
While the closing or exchange process can be stressful, it’s important to stay organized and focused on the end goal of selling your home. With the right team by your side, you can navigate this final stage of the home sale and move on to your next adventure.
