Invermere real estate report – June 2020: 22 sales were registered on the MLS in May. The number of buyers looking for recreational property in the valley shot up substantially over the past month which makes sense when you consider that travel plans elsewhere are on hold for the near to mid term. We also expect buyers who may have been looking to purchase property out of country to switch gears and buy closer to home.

Invermere real estate report – May 2020: 16 new sales were registered on the MLS in April VS 31 sales in March. This nearly 50% drop in numbers a direct result of the Covid-19 “pause” as many viewings and listings were rescheduled. But we also saw some attractive new listings and price reductions entering the market, lots of viewings are also taking place.

Most local golf courses are now open with social distancing measures in place and the response has been quite positive with many golfers out enjoying the weather this past week. I am hoping to dust off my clubs and get out there on the next blue bird day.

The effects of Covid-19 on Real Estate inThe Columbia Valley

Luckily our market experienced a relatively active first quarter so real estate transactions in April are being closed at a near normal rate. That being said we are seeing a drop in the number of viewing requests for obvious reasons and although general interest and online traffic has remained steady this decline in the number of buyers physically looking at property will no doubt decrease the number of sales we will see in the coming months.

We are still fully functional with the ability to show homes and if the client would prefer we offer viewings digitally via FaceTime. Luckily many of the recreational listings in our area are vacant during the week so there are less complications regarding virus control when it comes to arranging showings.
